Homemade Cheeseburgers

This is another great freezer friendly item. I make the patties ahead of time and freeze them. Come dinner (or lunch), just grill them on the pan and assemble the burgers. Yummy and healthy (at least more so than the fast food chain ones!)

This recipe makes about 3 meals (i.e. each meal = 2 adult patties, 2 kiddy patties)

Patty:
750g minced beef
1 - 2 tbsp steak sauce/ Worcestershire sauce (i.e. Lea and Perrins, HP)
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp mustard (optional)
1 tsp sesame seed oil (optional)
1 large white onion, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
bread crumbs (about 2 - 3 slices of bread)
2 eggs

Directions:
Combine everything in a huge bowl.
Shape into good sized patties (I usually have larger ones for the adults and smaller sized ones for the kiddos).
Grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
When 2nd side is almost done, lay a slice of cheese on the patty and allow it to melt.
Patty shrinks in size when done.
Placed cooked patty on a lightly toasted buttered bun.

Variations:
Add some salad in the burger for a healthier version.
Add grilled onions (Saute sliced white onions, seasoned with soy sauce and brown sugar until caramelized).

Freezing:
Freeze patties flat on trays, separated by plastic (I use plastic bags).
When frozen, remove and pack them into ziplogs for easy storage.
I usually grill the patties semi-frozen.
