- 240 gm (3 small blocks) tau gua
- potato starch (or corn flour), for coating
- ½ onion, diced
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 red chilli, finely chopped
- 1 tsp shaoxing wine
- 1 tsp light soy sauce
- spring onion, diced, for taste
- ¼ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp five-spice powder
- 1 tsp sugar
Method
Cut tofu into small cubes, pat fry with paper towels
Sprinkle a bit of the seasoning powder onto the tofu. Just a little.
Coat the tofu pieces with starch.
Heat oil and fry tofu until nice and crisp.
Remove tofu and set aside.
Sauce minced garlic, red chilli and return tofu to pan.
Add wine, soy sauce and remaining seasoning.
Toss to combine.
Sprinkle spring onions and serve.
