Chinese Yam, Apple & Corn Soup (淮山苹果玉米汤）

Now that we eat at home, I want to try and make more soups for dinner. Got this recipe from The Chinese Soup Lady . Ingredients Chinese Yam (淮山), about a 30cm length, peeled and cut into small pieces 2 small apples, cut into small pieces 1 corn cob, cut into fifths 3 pcs of pork bones (we don't really like to eat the meat in soups thus it is more economical to buy pork bones for soup) Method Parboil the meat and discard the water Place everything else into the pot and add about 1.5L of water Bring to a boil for about 10min Turn the fire down and allow to simmer for at least an hour. (I either use a thermal pot usually or a slow cooker. However, today, I needed to leave the house right after boiling the soup, I placed the whole pot into the oven and set the oven at about 125degC and left it for about 2 hours).

Wafu Pizza

The boys loved the Wafu pizza that we had at Watami and thus we decided to give it a shot at making our own. Ingredients: Tortilla wrap (as pizza base) Cooked chicken pieces (I simply bought a roasted chicken from the supermarket and shredded the meat from there) Mushrooms, sliced Shredded cabbage Shredded Parmesan cheese White onions, cut into rings Spring onions, cut lengthwise so that you get long ovals Nori (the stripped kind that you put on soba) Bonito flakes Teriyaki sauce (The bottle I bought was very watery, and so I thickened it with cornstarch before using Japanese mayonaise (Kewpie) * I guess you can literally put anything you want on the pizza and it'll probably still taste good! Method: Place desired toppings onto the tortilla (chicken, mushroom, cabbage, onion rings). Drizzle with the Teriyaki sauce. Bake in oven for about 5-10 min, until the tortilla crisps up. To serve: Drizzle with more Teriyaki sauce if pizza looks too dry. Top with

Asian BBQ Midjoint Wings Marinade

This is modified from Rasa Malaysia’s Asian BBQ Wings . Ingredients: 1 kg mid joint wings 1 tsp maple syrup 1.5 tsp salt 1/3 tsp five spice powder 1 tbsp oyster sauce 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 thumb-sized knob ginger (grated/ chopped) 1 tsp sesame seed oil 1 tsp soy sauce Method: Allow to marinade for a couple of hours Lay out in baking sheet and cover with foil Bake in oven for about 20min at 180 dC Remove foil and allow to broil for a couple of minutes for some browning.
